Pressure

by mike bullock

Do you feel the pressure
To be a pharisee
To tick the list of laws each day
A working Christian be
Being a slave to doing right
An endless list of rules
To earn a place in heavens queue
With all the other mules.

You cannot change the way God feels
He loves us all the same
We have nothing left to prove
It really is a shame
That we don't grasp His endless grace
A gift that's free to all
That Jesus perished to provide
If we would heed His call.

So lay down all your clever plans
Your daily shopping list
Several hours of constant prayer
And others that I've missed
Stand before The Lord your God
Do just what He asks
Be the person that you are
Stripped of all your masks.
