My Father Said

by Catherine Weeks

Life's rivers rose and fires burned,
Pain was everywhere I turned.
My eyes stung with many tears,
Were blinded by doubt filled fears.
Sorrow and grief filled my head
But my Father said:
"You're always loved,
Forever Mine,
I have a plan."

Alone in the dark I cried,
Lost in shadow, my heart sighed.
Truth I did not want to see,
Even though He'd answered me.
My spirit longed to be fed.
Again, my Father said:
"You're always loved,
Forever Mine,
I have a plan."

Slowly He worked in my heart,
Gently took my will apart.
'Til I said, "Thy will I'll do-
Guide me into something new.
Farewells I faced with sharp dread.
Quietly my Father said:
"You're always loved,
Forever Mine,
I have a plan."

Of His word I came aware-
"You'll not be alone down there.
I have plans to prosper you.
This valley I'll see you through
'Til you arrive where I've led."
Firmly, my Father said:
"You're always loved,
Forever Mine,
I have a plan."

"For My glory I'll proceed
Providing your every need.
I see growth where you see pain,
Every stripe is for your gain.
You'll be glorified one day."
I hear my Father say:
"You're always loved,
Forever Mine,
I have a plan."

So I praise His holy name.
His will becomes my one aim.
Secure, I am in His hand.
Firmly in my faith I stand,
Even as I kneel to pray.
Ever I hear my Father say:
"You're always loved,
Forever Mine,
I have a plan."
