Holy Moment, Holy Example

When Jesus was baptized by John
In the Jordan River long ago
He showed us the Way to Heaven
And gave us what we needed to know

He who had no sin
Was showing us what to do
To be claimed by The Holy Spirit
To make our lives anew

To wash us of our sins
To purge all the stains away
So we could stand blameless before God
On a glorious, bright future Day

Baptism is the claim of God
Upon your life and soul
Without Him you're lost and incomplete
With Him, you're found and made whole

Only God can deeply cleanse us
And wash every sin away
Only God can make us right
And His righteousness convey

So no matter how sinful we are
No matter what we've done
The Holy Spirit baptizes with fire
And a new chapter of your life is begun
