His Feet

by Paul Purday

Beautiful those feet that walked amongst us
The feet that trudged with minimum of fuss
For He would go
With every purpose and creativeness
To target all who needed Him and thus
Would end their woe
Dusty and sandal-clad He walked our way
To bring God's heart into the light of day.

He did not come by soldiers' retinue
Or stallion-mounted highways to pursue
For He was born
As humbly as the world could ever view
And in obscurity was raised a Jew
A nation's scorn
Would see His humble path and lowly birth
And His Religion could not see His worth.

Feet that could walk with ease from star to star
A stellar highway fitting Him by far
Was not His path
He chose to match the steps where people are
And hold the glorious door to God ajar
Despite men's wrath
His feet, so dusty, led Him to a place
Where there would be the ultimate of Grace.

Man's strong aversion to God's way, will show
A scene of crucifixion long ago
A heinous crime
His feet that walked such blessing now would know
The torturous nails, but released the flow
Of love sublime
The walk of Grace and Love would now proceed
Its pathway to our hearts, unstopped indeed!
