Worship

We worship what we know and will not find
That all our toys were never meant to be
As satisfaction of a lasting kind
For we soon tire of everything we see
And look for new dimensions to enjoy
On which misplaced affections can employ.

For these are lessons that we rarely learn
And being human, still new things pursue
A shiny glint would cause our eyes to turn
To look for more exciting things to view
And miss the jewels buried from our sight
Which would provide an everlasting light.

The Spirit blows in ways and means unknown
A shaft of light breaks through the darkening sky
A beam of glory piercing to the bone
A searching light that often makes us cry
Inscrutable, a different way to see
The light undying of eternity.

That light that shines upon that sea of Grace
And rolls within our hearts upon the tide
It is a light that shines in Jesus' face
But now within this world where Jesus died
Spirit and Truth, we worship Who we know
And climb Salvation's mountain all aglow.
