Christ's race to run and knowing how to train
To look for ways, our stamina to change
And lessen all the weights that we will gain
From years of folly that reduce our range.
For in this race, many will lose their way
From tiredness, and will soon forget the Prize
On other paths to dally, and betray
The One whose beauty vanished from their eyes.
No longer those entanglements to find
That trip us up and drive us from the race
Where a duality affects the mind
And we don't see the beauty of His Face.
Our view of Jesus must transfix our gaze
The beauty of that Man our vision hold
And run we must, towards that glorious blaze
Straining our onward race towards the Gold.
