The Old Days

by pencil in His Hand

When I was born again,

now many years ago,

there were not so many things to do,

we weren't always on the go.

We didn't have a smartphone,

with all of the apps and such,

we talked face to face and on landlines

when we wanted to stay in touch.

People had time for meetings and church,

and read stories to children too,

had time for coffee, would visit a friend,

even with work and shopping to do.

In those days we'd sit in the evening,

with books or a healthy hobby,

and the best thing about those days:

that my Jesus felt so close to me.

And now I must go back,

to my first love return again,

those days may ever be gone

but my Jesus is ever the same.
