Spare Not The Rod finalist in poetry contest
"Spare the rod and spoil the child" is a phrase coined by a 17th century British poet, Samuel Butler, but it is based on Proverbs 13:24, "He that spareth the rod hateth his son, but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes."

MY KIDS WERE BEING TAUGHT THIS THEORY IN SCHOOL AND I REALLY RESENTED THAT. IT UPSET ALMOST EVERY PARENT IN TOWN AND WE EVEN GOT THE LOCAL REP INVOLVED.
