Let Love Have its Say

by Dave Mudford © 2024

"there is no fish left in the sea
at least one that's designed for me,"
this is what she cries loudly to me
pleading with me to just let her be.

dark days of misery having their say
blinding the truth and dismissing its way,
deep joy of life her feelings deprive
the strength of God's love keeps her alive.

Mr Figment of my Imagination
it is time to make your introduction,
Will Smith who she meets at beach mission
fills her heart with a different vision.

scarlet hue of sunsets grandeur
no match for romances splendour,
riding in on a bike, a brand-new sky
cherished; she no longer wants to die.

love is shared through life's ups and downs
through laughter's dance and heartache's frowns,
precious daughter with a quirky sense
may his love for you be your defence.

union formed through grace, hope begins to thrive
her fiery temper is now his to survive,
always prepared to go through some flack
for heavens knows, I don't want her back!

her heart is now filled with so many words
love now soaring much higher than the birds,
the nest that they build centred on Christ
into His will may they be enticed.

each step that they take, in His tender care
each burden they face, the Lord will He share,
a light in the darkness, guiding their way,
love not just is said, but having its say.

Note: Written for my daughter's wedding. She has struggled in the past with depression and low self worth. But God has always remained faithful in His love. May we all let love have its say in our lives!

PS: No not that Will Smith! This one rides a bike and comes from Australia.
