Stained Remorse

by Dave Mudford © 2024

bloodless pages ebb and flow
silent echoes dancing free,
hidden thoughts a pungent blow
scarlet dreams my scar's debris.

writing wounds, I will discard
in the dimness of my boast,
bruised shadows, a broken shard
staining paper with its ghost.

memories whispering defeat
into the ink, dried with remorse,
leaving cursing rhymes incomplete
disguising hope, with its blind course.

faithful compassion goes missing
lost within the beauty written,
shallow expectations kissing
to self's pride, still am I smitten!

Note: This poem explores the writing experience - so often crafted and designed for our protection. The rawness and honesty controlled and directed by our pride. Compassion then is left to wander aimless without any real depth and meaning.

Time for us to let helping others be the goal rather than having "impressing" as our main objective.

My prayer is that God will use my failures and shortcomings to give an understanding to what His grace really means to those who are in distress, without forgiveness, without hope and who are seeking the meaning to what their life is about.
