Living in Luxury

by Dave Mudford © 2024

fancy cars I have not
no gold or silver owned,
struggle has been my lot
to envy I can be prone.

my luxury is laughter
riches of a greater depth,
grace defines my true value
in joy of favour, I have wealth.

no caviar in my pantry
but no hunger do I know,
to the elite I have no entry
world's glory; nothing to show

my luxury is family
real intimacy and love,
somewhere I can be myself
precious gift from up above.

learning to be content
through good days and the lean,
satisfied with what God has sent
now knowing what life means.

my luxury is forgiveness
freedom given in love's name,
releasing my pain from prison
healing found; never to be the same.
