My heart screams from the abuse
no one listens to its beat,
homeless nights spent in shadow
kindness begins its retreat.
Empty dreams crowding nightmares
cold embrace of a wine flask,
comfort lost to bruised emotions
hiding behind a tainted mask.
Eyes divert away from my shame
smelly blight on shaded street,
as no one sees and no one hears
unknown; as my hope depletes.
Escaping pain, I fail again
selling my body for a price,
sunrise comes with no delight
survival's chance; I roll the dice.
Intimacy far left behind
living from my family's curse,
seeking my grief to disappear
drugs, only making things worse.
Amidst the fog of betrayal
longing for a better day,
warmth for me just a distant dream
If only someone would pray…
A prayer filled with grace
transforming actions,
A prayer given in love
leaving distractions;
A prayer to challenge hearts
so, mercy can be sown,
A prayer spoken for me
so that I can be known.
