The voice of worry shouts so loud
To frighten anxious prey.
At times I know that I have bowed
To fear, . . . but not today!
The voice of doubt then speaks his mind
To fill my heart with dread.
“Your path’s not clear or well defined.”
. . . I’ll trust the words He said!
A voice was heard and all too clear,
“Compare what others do!
Can God use one like you, my dear?”
. . . Yes, God can use me too!
Then sultry, silky words were thrust,
“This sin will do no harm.
Surrender now to selfish lust.”
. . . No, flee from evil’s charm!
The voice of blame then joined the fray,
“But look what you have done!
Can God so love? You’ve gone astray!”
. . . He sent his only son!
All ears to hear familiar voice;
I’m sure it is my own,
“You’ve done enough, relax, rejoice.”
. . . I bow before His throne!
The voice of pride then cleared his throat,
“Stop listening to them!
You have so much for which to gloat.”
. . . All glory’s due to Him!
And then I hear the voice of love
“You are my cherished one.
A chosen child of God above.
Our journey’s just begun!”
“The voices speak but it’s your choice
To answer heaven’s call.
Come here to me. You know my voice.
I love you after all.”
