Trial of Trials
(part 3)

My dearest friend I used to hate
was standing at the Pearly Gate.

For it was he who constantly
would tell me Jesus died for me.

I'd turn around and walk away.
Some smart remark I'd have to say.

Late at night I'd toss and turn.
Unsatisfied my soul would yearn.

Many sleepless nights went by
till my convicted soul did cry...

"Lord, take my sin away from me.
My friend said You would set me free."

He gave my soul such peace within,
I rushed to tell my dearest friend.

And now my friend receives his crown
but not a crown for me is found.

Again my tears fell in a stream
and I awakened from the dream.

Lord, stand me at the Pearly Gate
but just a little longer wait...

and give to me a heart within...
a heart just like my dearest friend's.
