Inside the Lullaby

How often do we realize
how thankful we should be
that we can walk and talk and think
and touch and feel and see?
How often do we magnify
afflictions that are light?
But then somehow a little child
will show us wrong from right.

Today I learned about a child
who lives not far away.
He just can't wait for nap time,
nor to go to bed they say.
It really seems peculiar
that a child soon turning three
would go to bed so happily
and never disagree.
His Mama says he cannot walk
like other children do
but Joey says someday he will
because God said it's true.

His parents thought it strange
how Joey loved to go to bed.
When they asked him why,
these are the words that Joey said
"It's there that I am walking...
and there God holds my hand.
So that is why I'm happy
to go to sleepy land."
A little child shall lead them.
Lord, help us realize ...
that we should walk with You Lord,
inside the lullabies.
