A Gift To All

by Gertrude Jefferies

You may not be a bad person,
May not have wronged any man
You may even love your neighbor
Often lend a helping hand.

You may go to church on Sunday
Choir member, or usher be,
Teach a class, or be a deacon.
Even chair a large committee.

Or you may be the vilest sinner
With a heart as black as night.
But the Word of God says plainly,
We're ALL sinners in his sight.

And though sinners, Jesus loves us,
Gave his life at Calvary.
When he died, sin's power was broken,
Now through Christ, we can be free.

There's a gift offered to all men,
From a loving Father's hand,
A gift of new life in Jesus
For every child, woman and man.

May I urge you to accept Him,
For he's coming back real soon,
Coming back to take his children
Home with him, where they belong.
