Sting of Providence (part 3)

by Pearl Leona Sturgis

The moonlight woke me early
and I stumbled from my bed.
I wandered out to see it
as I tried to clear my head.
The moon was full and yellow
and the stars were shining bright;
my heart already mellow
with Christmas close in sight.

Earth's shadow creeping slowly...
sought to cover up the moon.
Our world was spinning toward it
to completely cover soon.
I watched until the darkness
did devour Heaven's light.
Then suddenly a sliver
of the moon came into sight.

It seemed within an instant,
again the stars did shine.
A shooting star!...A Rainbow!...
earth's shadow left behind.
The rainbow wrapped around the moon,
till darkness fled away.
There then appeared a new world,
as if God seemed to say:

"I promise with my rainbow,
your dark world now is gone.
If you will only let it go...
A new day's coming on!"
