Darkness Defeated

by Albert Watson

It was darkness like no other
Darkness you could feel
A fearful evil darkness
A Darkness so surreal
A cry within that darkness
A harrowing desperate plea
A voice cried out why Father
Have you forsaken me?
I stood there in the darkness
Alone but not alone
At that point an earthquake
And the earth let out a groan
What scenes back in the temple?
What not and what to do
Who could approach the Holy Place?
For the curtain had split in two
Men had killed the Lord of Glory
Men had hung Him on a tree
But despite the works of darkness
He had gained the victory.
