FRESH OIL

by Gertrude Jefferies

Fresh oil, dear Father
For fresh oil I plead.
Your cleansing touch
And revival I need.
You know my thoughts
And my heart you can read.
Fresh oil, dear Father
For fresh oil, I plead.

As I look inside
I see only shame.
Things I have done,
That dishonour Your Name.
I need the touch of
Your deep cleansing flame
Stir dying embers,
Revive me again.
