Memories of My Mom

by Gertrude Jefferies

I never had the chance to be,
A loving Mom like you.
And on this special Mother's Day,
I am so proud of you.

You never had an easy time
When you were growing up,
So many things you did without,
You had no 'silver cup.'

And yet you held your head up high,
And lived an honest life.
But there were many times that you
Were torn by pain and strife.

But you always knew God loved you,
Would always see you through.
And as your little ones grew up,
They saw God's love in you.

They saw the pain and suffering,
And hardship day by day,
But they always heard you saying,
That "God would make a way."

And through the years, a way he'd make,
He never let you down.
You grew to love him more and more,
A precious Friend you'd found.

As we were born into your home,
You'd give us back to God.
And trust him to reveal his love,
As through this world we'd trod.

You gave all to your family,
Of each one you took great care.
And every single one of us,
Was bathed with fervent prayer.

And though we're grown and older now,
And God has called you home,
We'll never lose the memory
Of the world's greatest Mom.
