Communion

by Albert Watson

Christian friends may I remind you,
Before taking communion, what to do.
Examine your heart and mind and walk,
No more lies, watch how you talk.

The Apostle Paul, listen what he said,
'That some were sick and others dead.'
They'd eaten bread in an unworthy way,
With unconfessed sin, a price did pay.

Friends, there is a story I recall
Confirms this word by brother Paul.
A man with wife, they sold some land,
Then what they did, quite underhand.

They lied about the money gained,
Gave part of sum and part retained.
'You lied to God' was Peter's cry,
By the Spirit's power they both did die.

Before we take the bread and wine,
Let's consider that sacrifice divine.
Confess our wrong, declare what's good,
Do not sin, against the body and blood.
