I Met Christ Today

by Gertrude Jefferies

I saw the face of Christ today,
For you smiled at me when you looked my way.
I have been used to only snarls and frowns,
Your smile turned my world upside down.

I heard the voice of Christ today,
When you turned to me and I heard you say,
"Won't you please come and sit here next to me,
We will chat a while, and keep company.

I felt the touch of Christ today,
As you gently led me along the way.
I have been so used to pushes and shoves
It was so nice to feel a touch of love.

It's been so many lonely years,
Since there has been someone who really cared.
I live on the street, no place to call home,
There's always someone to push you around.

So thank you, sir, for taking time,
To show me Christ, most people are not kind.
You've made a big difference in my life today,
May God bless you for passing by my way.
