The Journey

by Deborah Ann Belka

Lord, we walk through this valley,
the man you gave me, and I.
And together we will journey,
without asking You how or why.

The job he once had,
is no longer his to do.
Now he is without work,
at the age of sixty-two!

There's not much in the bank,
the savings are long gone.
All we have is my disability,
for us to get by and live on.

The money is not very much,
the rent it will not even pay.
And all the other bills,
I need to figure out some day.

We've put our home on the market,
but not a buyer has come by.
And soon we will need to leave,
and say to our equity, good-bye.

I know we are not alone,
for we can see our neighbors too.
And I pray You will show us,
how we can help them to trust You.

For,we walk through this valley,
knowing not where You will lead.
But, we know that You have promised,
to take care of our every need.
