Her voice cries out into the street
Oh, do not make a fool's retreat
Or scoff at Wisdom's faithful voice
Or scorn those who make her their choice
Do you hear her plaintive cry?
Will she like the wind pass by?
Returning void at your request
As you in foolish knowledge, jest
Turn and heed her wise reproof
Why do you choose to stand aloof?
Or disregard her cherished hand
Mocking her pleading reprimand
Where will you run, how will you flee?
When strong winds of calamity
Tear away your fickle shroud
Will you find comfort in your crowd?
Oh lend an ear to wealth untold
A treasure dear, more pure than gold
Do not heed temptation's voice
Precious one, make God your choice
Yes, Wisdom cries into the night
Longs to draw you to her light
Will you from darkness turn away
And heed her pleading voice today?
