Deep Waters

by Deborah Ann Belka
https://poetrybydeborahann.wordpress.com

Deep waters . . .
shallow souls
sinking in sins
bottomless hole.

Stuck in the muck,
with no way out
too many fears
on top of doubt.

Waters of affliction,
bitter ~ so bitter
once faithful souls
now are God quitters.

Troubles teeming,
from both ends
too many enemies
not enough friends.

Rivers of worries,
lakes of mistakes
these drowning souls
forgot sin's stakes.

Sinking in despair,
going down and down
too frighten to turn
themselves around.

Deep waters . . .
life-giving streams
sin flooded souls
Jesus wants to redeem.

Psalm 69:2
King James Version

"I sink in deep mire, where there is no
standing: I am come into deep waters,
where the floods overflow me."
