I Know Your Pain

by Gertrude Jefferies

I had a broken heart also,
When I hung upon the cross,
And now my heart goes out to you,
as you suffer in your loss.
I parted with the One I loved,
as I hung upon that tree,
Separated by the price of sin,
He could not look on Me.

The empty loneliness of loss
is something that I have known,
I know your heart, the pain it feels,
You can barely carry on.
Why don't you let me help you,
your painful cross to bear,
I know all about it dear child,
you see, I was there.

I'll walk with you in the sunshine,
I'll walk with you in the rain.
No matter where you go on earth,
You just have to call my Name.
I'll hold you up and give you strength,
When it's hard to carry on,
When at last this life is over,
I will lead you safely home.
