Love's Sweetest Song

by Gertrude Jefferies

All the way to Calvary
He traveled there for me.
Taking my sin upon himself,
He hung there on that tree.
Paying a price I could not pay,
And letting me go free,
Jesus the sinless Lamb of God,
Salvation's Deity.

The stripes he bore upon his back,
Caused him such agony.
The crown of thorns crushed on his head,
Blinded by blood, was he.
The cruel nails that pierced his hands
And feet, on that dark day,
All sang salvation's sweetest song:
His boundless love for me.
