Willing

by Deborah Ann Belka
https://poetrybydeborahann.wordpress.com

Lord, my spirit is willing,
but oh, how my flesh is weak.
I listen for Your answers,
but I don't hear You speak.

I fight these daily battles,
sometimes all alone.
But I need You to guide me,
and Your way to be shown.

The battles are many,
the victories are often few.
I need You to be with me,
so I know what I must do.

My heart is truly eager,
but my body fights so hard.
I've got my battle wounds,
I know that I am scarred.

Lord, come to my defense,
help me to get over the fray.
I know I will always struggle,
unless You lead me the way.

My soul is able and ready,
make my body willing too.
So I may resist temptation,
and claim my victory in You.
