Once I walked the course,
that paved my way with sin.
My steps were bound to take me,
where Satan was sure to win.
I followed my own desires,
and lusted after even more.
I strolled the streets of greed,
and knocked on resentment's door.
I pursued the work of darkness,
and ate up all the fame.
I labored in the halls of envy,
with covetous as my aim.
I ensued after my own pleasure,
with Satan beneath my feet.
My gratification kept me marching,
to his disobedient beat.
I became skillful in the world,
and paved a road for my delight.
Until I came upon a bridge,
that exposed a saving light.
In the span of my awareness,
I saw just how ugly I became.
And it was at this very moment,
I felt the sting of my own shame.
Oh, how grateful now I am,
To be saved by that connection.
Now my path is paved and planned,
with only God's design and intention.
