Because, Jesus Said So!

Why must we give up our lives,
and everything we love and own
why must we make Him the ruler
and put Him on our heart's throne?

Why must we deny ourselves,
and all that brings us pleasure
why must we surrender to the Lord
all that we adore and treasure?

Why must we sell everything,
and leave our dead behind
why must we sacrifice our wealth
and give to the poorest of mankind?

Why must we take up our cross,
and follow wherever He may go
why must we part with everything?
Because . . . Jesus said so!
