Pressing Into The Goal

It's not about the contest,
it's about the one you enter in
for the race that's before you
can be full of good or full of sin.

It's not about how fast you are,
it's about your sober dedication
and the gospel of God's grace
must be your soul's aspiration.

It's not about the time you run,
it's about how close you've come
to the mark of the higher calling
and the glory of God's kingdom.

It's not about the finish line,
it's about pressing into the goal
to follow and go after Jesus
with all your heart and soul.

It's not about the winning,
it's about your defeat and loss
and if you gained true knowledge
of why Christ died on the cross!
