Dashing to the mall
in a luxury automobile
over the freeway I crawl
complaining all the way
horns of irritation blow
making me feel uptight
oh what pain it is to shop
at six- o'clock at night.
Jingle blues, jingle blues
complaining all the way
oh what a mess it is to ride
on the holiday express.
A season or two ago,
I thought I'd quit this dash
and then I was told
I didn't need the cash
a credit card will do
to get me a lot of stuff
with no interest charges
for that enticing touch.
Jingle blues, jingle blues
complaining all the way
oh what a mess it is to ride
on the credit card express.
A season or two ago,
I thought I was through
dashing to Black Friday sales
but my Christmas list grew
and now I find myself
fighting traffic in my car
inching along the way
not getting very far
and I ~ I just got to shop!
Jingle blues, jingle blues
complaining all the way
oh what a mess it is to ride
on the bankrupt express.
Now my face is white,
as I look at all the bills
to pay back what I owe
gives me the chills
so from now I am paying cash
to Christmas debt I'm going to cede
no more debit and credit cards
and I hope you'll take my lead.
Jingle bliss, jingles bliss,
I have nothing more to fear
oh what joy it will be . . .
to have no Christmas debt next year!
