Temptation's Tree

by Deborah Ann Belka
https://poetrybydeborahann.wordpress.com

Oh, how the fruit of unrighteousness,
glisten on temptation's tree
calling out to all the world
"Come and take a look at me"

Lush, ripe, and ever ready
it hangs for every eye to see
calling out to all the world
"Come and take a taste of me"

Always waiting to be picked,
a feast to satisfy is a guarantee
calling out to all the world
"Come and take a bite of me"

Within its juicy, thriving flesh,
lies its poisonous, evil seed
calling out to all the world,
"I am all that you will need"

Oh, how man's unrighteous deed
was paid in full, on Calvary's tree
calling out to all the world
"I have come to set you free."
