pain embracing the rising dawn
consuming my breath, my hope torn,
depression's curse a melody
lost from the gracious remedy;
rain falling distant
faith inconsistent.
as the dust and ashes fill my days
as despair tries to silence my praise,
the whisper of an unwanted tune
threatens to deafen a sacred commune;
intimacy hidden
my joy now unwritten.
grasping the beauty even through the hard
clinging fastly to grace, my heart to guard,
listening to love explained by God's essence
resting safe in the refuge of His presence;
lifting eyes to His glory
now refreshing my story.
Note: The definition of the word "commune" as used in the poem above - to share one's intimate thoughts or feelings with (someone), especially on a spiritual level. The "someone" here is of course God Himself!
