The First Christmas Gift

Long ago, that first Christmas day,
A gift was given, but only one gift.
God gave the gift that He sent our way.
Through Jesus, our sins, He forever did lift.

This gift came in sorrow, pain and grief.
His Son became man to bear our sin,
To break through the veil of our unbelief.
A promise that came, so all could win.

A babe in flesh would grow to a man.
With scourge of flesh and pain down to bone,
Taking on death was His great, master plan.
On a cross He would die, then body on stone.

From death, he would rise and live anew.
He lives today and calls many to life.
His death gives life to more than a few.
Just open your heart to end all your strife.

We now give gifts to others we know,
T'was God's gift to us that started it all.
We celebrate Christmas from long ago.
It came from His heart and offers a call.

His call? - Come and be His child!
And be with Him for evermore,
No longer lost and no longer wild.
Open now, walk through His door.

Luke 1:31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name Him Jesus.
