Burdens of Life

by Dave Mudford © 2023

Heaviness can cloud the sunshine
disguising hope amidst our burden,
weighed down by our heartaches
somehow our faith appears less certain.

Broken dreams inflict a burden
that is carried as my living curse,
love fades within its boundaries
the hard word it speaks; controls my verse.

I see my children suffering
a burden that sees me start to drown,
concerns for an unknown future
beckoning my weary soul to frown.

Decisions that have no answer
jarring pain that jolts away relief,
carrying a burden heavy in my heart
trials demanding in their mischief.

Jesus words needing a home in my heart
"come unto Me and find your rest",
safe in the refuge of His grace
learning He is the one who loves me best.

Hope assured through the Saviour's mercy
burdens of life lifted in His light,
no easy journey, just a blessed one
for the Lord is taking up my fight.

Resting secure in His mighty strength
knowing His deep healing in my soul,
releasing my cares into His loving hands
so, through all my fears He can console.

Trusting in the goodness of Father's heart
time to be nourished in His care,
ceasing my struggling on my own
of His presence always aware.

Allowing His promise to transform my verse!

Matthew 11:28-30 "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."

1 Peter 5:7 Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.

Note: The burdens that we carry often direct the story (verse) of our lives. What is the next verse that will be written in your life? May it be one that is transformed by His promise.
