Heaven

by Mark Spencer © 2022

Walking through a world
Where love is real
And everything is beautiful.
Where dreams are carried higher
By wisps of sanguine mists,
To spread across the sky
Like blankets of serenity.

The songs of cherubim
Flutter on celestial winds,
That carry through the senses
Like grand Elysian ripples,
Stirred by the supreme precision,
And masterful composition,
Of transcendent purity.

And I look on
In imperishable wonder.
Consumed by every sense,
And every thought.
Have I truly stepped upon
The empyreal firmament?
Is this what waits beyond
The furtive corporeal veil?
Could this be …
Heaven?
