"Can any one of you by worrying
add a single hour to your life?"
(Matthew 6:27, NIV)
I learned of the LORD's patience
when I became dismayed.
My thoughts went in directions
that led my mind to stray.
It's then the LORD embraced me
and whispered in my ear.
His words were very calming—
they gentled all my fears.
He told me there's no reason
to fret about today—
it will not solve my problems—
'twill only cause dismay.
He asked if all my worries
could add time to my life.
It's then I knew the answer—
they only caused me strife.
I learned that all tomorrows,
and every single day,
I'm not supposed to worry—
instead, I'll kneel and pray.
"Therefore do not worry about tomorrow,
for tomorrow will worry about itself.
Each day has enough trouble of its own."
(Matthew 6:34, NIV)
