I Couldn't Do It

"For the joy set before Him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God."
(Hebrews 12:2, NIV)

"But when this priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God..."
(Hebrews 10:12, NIV)

I'm down and out
I've lost my way.
My life confused
by darkest gray.

I could not find
a better day.
And could not keep
my sin at bay.

His wrath on me
was sure to come
My soul in Hell.
No song, no drum.

But wait, there is
another way!
He is for me
as I now pray.

The Son, His life
A ransom sure,
would cover sin
that I'd endure!

I tell you this,
I know it's true.
He's got the helm
cross seas of blue.

So, turn to Him.
His love does call.
To all of us
cast in the fall.

I now am free
With joy inside.
His love so strong,
so deep, so wide.

It's all on Him.
He will not fail.
This Son of God,
the Prince we hail!
