Looking for greenery, the tender seeds
Only finding pain from life's thorny weeds
Grabbing and clawing, it keeps one down
Struggling to stand, to get up off the ground
Memories still haunt on tries and whys
Poor past decisions that led to dark skies
Climbing the wall, never reaching the top
Dragged down by briers that never stop
What light will transform a nettled mind
Reviving a future, one cannot seem to find
Forgiveness for a life self-tattered and torn
Breathing life into a body, needing to be reborn
New growth bursts out from the one true vine
Spreading love and nurture from the divine
Christ, the savior once concealed, is now seen
God's gift of grace the flower, Heaven the eternal green
