A child was born in Bethlehem—
a cherished babe was He.
He lay upon a bed of hay—
a precious sight to see.
His mother wrapped Him in a cloth
to keep Him warm that night
as angels praised the Lord above
in the Glory of His Light.
And living in the fields nearby
were shepherds tending sheep.
They were keeping watch o'er them—
their flock was fast asleep.
Behold, the Glory of the Lord
shone 'round them on that night.
An angel then appeared to them
and caused them such a fright.
'Twas then the angel said to them
"Do not be afraid.
I bring good news for one and all
please do not be dismayed.
A Savior has been born this day—
a precious child is He.
He is Messiah, Christ the Lord,
a child for all to see.
The babe is wrapped within a cloth
upon a bed of hay.
A manger is this baby's bed—
no other place to stay."
