'Tis a time to remember a special event —
the birth of a child, whom the Father had sent.
He was born in a stable, no crib for His bed;
no place but a manger to lay His sweet head.
And at that time . . .
There were shepherds in fields keeping watch o'er their sheep
as an angel appeared, while the world was asleep.
The shepherds were frightened, but were told not to fear—
the Christ-child was born in a town very near.
'Twas the Glory of God that shone 'round them that night,
like a bright shining star with a resplendent light,
and Heavenly hosts praised the Lord God, our King,
singing peace on the earth to all living things.
