I hear thunder roaring
while raging through the skies
as lightning strikes through clouds
before my very eyes.
The earth is dry and waiting
to welcome quenching rains
as riverbanks diminish
and droughts come stake their claim.
All life on Earth cries out
and prays that God sends rain.
He hears its anguished plea
and takes away its pain.
And then God sends His precious rains . . .
Rain-filled clouds come bursting forth
in search of sun-scorched lands,
not holding back the moisture
from the good Lord's hands.
