Window of Time

by Sybil Fulk

I live in a house where everything's bright
And I bask in the light of my life
Each day stepping forward is always my goal
In my work as a mother and wife

There's a window among all the others
That I'm calling my window of time
A place where the sun isn't shining
Where the past is too simple to find

The child inside me is whispering
To remember a day long ago
Perhaps just to settle the heartache
From the lingering pain she did know

I call out to you on this darkened day
Because I know you are always there
Ready to reach out and dry my tears
As you listen for this child's prayer

The facts are obscure through the window
Where deep in my mind they are filed
I must tomorrow return to routine
But today I devote to the child
