Beauty hidden behind pride,
Ashamed by what's deep inside;
Dismissing what's ours,
Abandon grace
A hopeless chase,
Painting over scars.
Beauty revealed through our story,
Living life, all for His glory;
Within earthly jars,
In grace stronger
I'm no longer,
Painting over scars.
Our scars display His healing,
No need to be concealing;
Blessed by what is ours,
Accepting grace
Our shame replace,
Thankful for our scars.
2 Corinthians 4:7 NLT We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves.
Note: I love polished timber floorboards. You can see all the beauty of the knots, flaws and scars and the raw creativity of its Maker. We are much the same; He is our polish, He highlights all the beauty of our scars; we then show the beauty of His healing power and the raw creativity of our Maker. Let us never cover His grace by trying to cover over our scars with our feeble, tacky paint!
