Bitter Thoughts

by Dave Mudford © 2018

When I hang on to bitter thought,
I don't escape the pain it brought;
It demands a greater price of me,
than my mind and soul can ever see.

When forgiveness is a distant thought,
makes a deceit of my healing sought,
Freedom now from a fractured heart,
escapes my grasp, with which I start.

When vengeance is the only thing I seek,
directs my destiny throughout the week;
Pain and heartache is never left behind,
For relief and peace, I will never find.

When pity is the crutch to which I cling,
there will be nothing left for me to sing;
Gives no perspective to my life,
instead doubt and fear will run rife.

When I fail today to show His great love,
my life is a shadow of what could be!
So, let your thoughts on good things dwell.
and God will change your heart as well.

Philippians 4:8 NLT And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.
