God Whispers to My Heart

God whispers to my heart
and wants me to draw near,
but when I am distracted
sometimes I do not hear.

It's when I do not listen
and do things my own way
I learn a costly lesson
each time I come to stray.

I want no more distractions
so I may hear God's voice
and every word He whispers—
O, Lord, that is my choice.

I come to You, dear Father,
and pray You take control
of my words, deeds, actions
and all my heart and soul.
