He Spoke Not a Word

by Kristine Stanton © 2016

"He was oppressed and afflicted,
yet he did not open his mouth;
he was led like a lamb to the slaughter,
and as a sheep before its shearers is silent,
so he did not open his mouth."
(Isaiah 53:7, NIV)

Oppressed and afflicted,
Christ spoke not a word.
He was beaten and bruised,
yet a sound was not heard.

Like a lamb He was led
to the slaughter that day—
as sheep before shearers
He had nothing to say.

O' precious and spotless
was the Lord Jesus Christ
who bore all the sins
of the world at a price.
