Contrast of Words

Words tumble from my mouth
cascading through remorse,
careless whispers echo loud
no gain from my discourse.

Hurt inflicted by my sparks
fires burning destroying peace,
wounds exposed through their claim
shadows deepen; my pain increase.

Words of life from the Lord
refreshing streams of living hope,
breathing purpose and true meaning
providing me a way to cope.

Promises proclaimed by Thy word
dismissing shadows through its light,
inspiring worship within my heart
living secure in God's delight.

James 3 : 5-6 Likewise, the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one's life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.

1 Peter 1 : 22-23 Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere brotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart, since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God;
