As I rise to greet another new day
may I be listening to what You say
willing to lay aside my aspiration
may You alone be my inspiration

may You be first, for this is what I pray
thinking of others before myself
selfish desires now left on the shelf

may I obey my God without delay
faithful today to Your precious living word
Instead of following along with the herd

may I surrender all and love convey
to display to others, the grace You show to me
from unforgiveness and bitterness may I flee

As I rise to greet another new day
may I praise and lift You in every way
through my songs and heartfelt prayers that I offer,
my actions submitted for You to author

As I rise to greet another new day
may I never from Your presence stray
living in step with Your plans
safe and secure in Your hands.
